Android is experimental. Playing modded Java Minecraft on a phone works through a few community-made tools, and this pack hasn't been tested on a real phone or handheld yet. Expect rough edges, and please tell Dan what happens, good or bad: your bug reports are how it gets fixed.

If you can get into the server: post a bug report on the ideas page.
If the game won't start at all: just message Dan.
Include your phone or handheld model, Android version, which step went wrong and any error text (a screenshot is fine).

Use Wi-Fi: the first setup downloads about 900 MB and needs about 1 GB of free space.

Install Zalith Launcher 2 Get the arm64-v8a APK from the official GitHub releases page and install it. Don't download it from other websites: there are fake copies. Open it once and tap Install when it offers to set up its Java files.

Install the MobileGlues plugin It's a second small app that makes the game run well on phones. Install the APK, then fully close Zalith (swipe it away from recent apps) and open it again so it finds the plugin.

Sign in with Microsoft Tap Add Account and choose Microsoft. Zalith shows a code: on any phone or computer, open microsoft.com/link, type the code and sign in with the account that owns Minecraft Java Edition.
Download and import the modpack Download NewBroCity.mrpack
Tap the downloaded file and open it with Zalith Launcher. If that isn't offered: in Zalith, tap the Download icon at the top, then Modpack, Import Modpack, and pick the file from Downloads. Keep the name New Bro City, tap Confirm and wait for “Import Successful”.
Pick the renderer and memory In Zalith's settings (the gear icon): Renderer, then Global Renderer, then MobileGlues. Then Game, then Memory Allocation: 3072 MB (2048 MB if your phone has 6 GB of RAM or less).
Samsung (Exynos), Pixel or MediaTek phones usually have a Mali GPU: open the MobileGlues app and turn on ANGLE.

Tap the downloaded file and open it with Zalith Launcher (“Import control layout”). Then in Zalith's settings, under Controls at the bottom of the left-hand list, pick New Bro City. It labels every button, adds a big Jump / Jetpack button (hold it to fly) and keeps the buttons off the menus.
Play Tap Launch. If it asks about “Manage All Files”, tap Authorization and allow it: MobileGlues needs it to read its settings. The first start takes a few minutes. Then go to Multiplayer: New Bro City is already in the list.
In menus the screen works like a laptop touchpad: drag anywhere to move the pointer, tap to click.

When the modpack is updated

Android doesn't update by itself. Download the new file and import it again. Zalith won't reuse the name, so call it something like New Bro City 1.2, then pick it on Zalith's home screen before tapping Launch. You can delete the old version from Zalith's version list afterwards.

Something wrong?

Android: crashes right after launching: Check the renderer is MobileGlues. On a Mali GPU, turn on ANGLE in its settings.
"Mod mismatch" / can't join the server: The pack got updated. Android: import the new .mrpack (see “When the modpack is updated”). PC: just restart the game.
“Chat is not allowed by account settings”: Your Microsoft account's privacy settings block chat in multiplayer games. You can still sign in on the ideas page: choose “Get a code on your game screen instead”. To turn chat on, follow Mojang's instructions: on account.xbox.com, set “You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text” to Allow. On a child account, a parent changes it in Microsoft Family Safety.
Low FPS: Options → Video Settings → lower Render Distance to 4.
Found a bug?: Post it on the ideas page as a bug report, or message Dan if you can't get into the game. Android is still experimental, so every report helps.
Can't connect at all: Check the dot in the top bar: if it says "Server offline", the server is restarting. Give it a few minutes.
